For 125 years, United Way has focused the caring power of communities to advance the common good.

When you donate to Greater Ottawa County United Way--through your workplace campaign or as an individual—you join forces with 10,000 of your neighbors in Ottawa County. Together, united, we invest in the building blocks of a better life for all.

In the 12 months ended March 31, 2012, nearly 10,000 Ottawa County residents reached out to support tens of thousands of their neighbors by giving 2.18 million dollars and 115,477 hours of volunteerism through United Way. 

Education. Financial Stability. Health. Emergency Assistance and Basic Human Needs. These are the four impact areas of United Way’s work in the community.

The decisions about where to invest the community's generosity are made by local people who volunteer their time to serve on United Way’s Community Investment panels. In 2012, 70 Community Investment Volunteers dedicated more than 1,400 hours of time and study to visit all community partner programs and make their investment decisions. As a result, 62 programs of 42 local nonprofit health and human service agencies are receiving United Way community investment funds after demonstrating that their work has changed lives for the better.
